In accordance with the Agreement on the Cooperation of Municipalities in Creating a Region for Solid Communal Waste Management aimed at protecting the health of the citizens and the environment, local lands, water and the quality of air, the municipalities of Subotica, Bačka Topola, Mali Iđoš, Čoka, Kanjiža and Senta have agreed to endeavour in achieving  sold waste management-related goals, in specific:
 

• to prevent waste production
• to minimize waste production a tits source
• to reuse the waste
• to recycling the waste
• to use wasteforgettingenergy
• to deposit waste permanently,  and other goals set by the National Waste Management Strategy.

According to the Agreement, a limited liability company was founded for solid waste management late 2007:

The company is to pursue the following activities and operations:

construction and management of the new regional sanitary landfill,                        
transport of waste to the transfer stations and the regional landfill,                           
selection, collection and separation of useful waste from the communal waste, with  selection at the landfill,
preparation or processing of secondary raw materials and their marketing,
development and modernization of the recycling system, building the necessary facilities and infrastructure,
building a composting plant, energy production from  waste materials, and mechanical and biological waste treatment prior depositing in the landfill, and others.
