With regard to the success in the development of the GIS Project, GTZ has asked the City of Subotica to build up cooperation with educational institutions in order to get familiar with the function and practical application of the geographic information system.
As announced on the meeting of GTZ representatives and the Mayor, Saša Vučinić in August 2008, an Agreement would be signed on the joint implementation of the GIS Project seminar in Serbia 2009, in February this year. The topic of the seminar covers: GIS applications for urban and environment planning implemented on the territory of Subotica. The Agreement was signed by the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Geography of the University of Belgrade, the Munich Technical University, the City of Subotica and GTZ.
The selected modules are as follows: green area cadastral models and the analysis of the current green and recreational areas for a city district, bike lanes and cadastral models of listed heritage for the listed centre of Palic. Upon project completion, all works will be presented and handed over to the Subotica Local Government.
In line with the Agreement and within the cooperation framework, a working meeting will be held in Subotica, in the Blue Saloon of the City Hall on March 31st, 2009 at 10 a.m. The students and their professors, tutors and representatives of the GTZ Office will visit the elaborated locations.
The working meeting will be opened by the Mayor of Subotica, Mr. Saša Vučinić.
