The second certificate award ceremony of business-friendly municipalities was organized in Belgrade-based National Assembly Hall. Of 26 municipalities that have entered NALED program, the certificates were given to total eight municipalities and cities, , Subotica is one of them.
Organization of the event was supported by program partners : Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, USAID and Municipal Economic Growth Activity, Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Belgrade Airport, SIEPA, Provincial Department of Local Government and inter-municipal cooperation and Vojvodina Investment Promotion Fund VIP.
Ambassador to Serbia, Mary Warlick said the awarded certificate of five municipalities in Serbia show that those municipalities are ready to provide in the short-term necessary information in order to attract those investments and said the United States, through Municipal Economic Growth Activity (USAID / MEGA program) will continue to support the development of local self-governments in Serbia.
The general assessment of this successful meeting, attended by many NALED members and partners, the representatives of local self-governments and domestic economy, is that this process is of great importance for further economic development of municipalities, considering recently adopted law on decentralization, and municipalities themselves should be leaders in their region, and in the sense as less as possible depend on the central Government, and the very certificate will help them much in that.
